Therapy Process

Sessions are usually once a week for 60-70 minutes. Ask me about other possible arrangements.

If you provide me with 24 hours notice, there is no charge. If less than 24 hours notice is given, the full fee is due. Exceptions are made for sickness and emergencies. Ask me about exceptions.

Confidentiality is essential to the therapy process. Everything that is shared in our sessions is confidential except for the following:
to prevent physical harm to yourself or another
when a minor is being neglected or abused
under subpoena of court order.

Short answer – no. Each iteration is different and valuable.

If you don’t feel comfortable yet, we will wait. I might suggest an area is important, but you are always in control of what you want to say.

That depends on you. Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a longer-term talk therapy. There is no contract, but you should prepare to commit for months not weeks.

When you feel ready for therapy to end. We will discuss ending therapy together when it feels right. We may decide to lengthen the time in between sessions to taper off. It is always your choice.
Fees and Payments

My regular fee is $145 per session. Sliding scale (lower fee) possibilities are sometimes available. Psychotherapy is not subjected to taxes in Canada.

I accept cash and e-transfer. Payment is due on the day of our session.

More and more insurance companies and extended health benefit plans are covering psychotherapy. Check with your provider to find out if psychotherapy is covered and how much coverage you have. After payment is received, I will provide you with a receipt that you can submit for reimbursement if eligible.
