My Services
How I Work
I bring a deep sense of empathy, active listening and commitment to being present with you. By genuinely tuning into your words, emotions and cues I try to understand your experience and challenges. I’m not just hearing you; I feel the weight of your struggles alongside you. I am dedicated to your unique journey.
I’m here to create a safe, open space where you can be yourself, free of judgement, where we can explore your thoughts, feelings, sensations, and beliefs. I’ll listen deeply, and we’ll talk. Yes, I will talk too. We’ll discuss both the present and the past, and your dreams as well.
Together, we can uncover what’s really going on inside and work towards a happier, more fulfilling life. Our sessions will be relaxed and casual, but I’ll always be professional. The relationship between client and therapist is unique and precious and will always be respected. My causal style may put you at ease in sessions. My professionalism will keep you safe.
If you would like to discuss the idea of therapy a little further, simply contact me and we can speak in person, on the phone or via e-mail. Just one step at a time—no contract or rigid commitment is required. Consider the prospect of psychotherapy and see what happens. You’re always in control and I’m here to help you every step of the way.
Chronic pain, Illness, Grief
Chronic illness can alter a person’s identity and future plans. It can strain relationships. Chronic illness is often exacerbated by stress. ZW Psychotherapy can help with grief, adjusting to a “new normal,” and finding new sources of meaning and purpose, transitioning to acceptance at a comfortable and calm pace.
Stress, Anxiety, Depression and Trauma
In today’s world, hustle mentality and digital connectedness leave many of us feeling burned-out, emotionally disconnected, and generally overwhelmed. ZW Psychotherapy helps identify root causes of stress, anxiety, or depression—whether it's trauma, perfectionism, or unresolved grief. It’s your first step toward healing. Many present-day responses are rooted in past experiences.Therapy helps process and resolve those hidden wounds.
Relationship and Interpersonal Difficulties
Sitting with uncomfortable feelings can be difficult. I’ll create a safe space to process your emotional pain. We can help you understand and identify your emotional responses, attachment styles, and behaviour patterns. This enables you to recognize unhelpful communication patterns (e.g., blame, avoidance, criticism) and develop healthier coping mechanisms to prevent old wounds from repeating themselves in new forms.
Dual Culture Issues
Are you a new immigrant, first-generation Canadian, child of immigrants, or in an intercultural relationship? At ZW Psychotherapy, we can explore feelings of confusion, disconnection, or conflict between cultures. These challenges are particularly difficult during major life transitions, e.g., starting post-secondary education, marriage, and moving out. Do you feel like you don't fully belong to either culture? Therapy helps integrate these experiences into a more cohesive sense of self.
How To Get Started
Our first few sessions will be full of questions and answers as I get to know you and your world. After that the conversation will probably flow back and forth more organically but very different to chatting with a friend.
We will walk together at your pace, allowing your nervous system time to experience and adjust to reach a calm, regulated place of balance.
